ChipFixx repairs individual chips. Smaller paint chips and road rash should be very hard to spot once fixed. If you have a few large ones you will know where they are and will probably be able to spot them. Sometimes a body shop is the best way to go if your car is very severely chipped or you want a like-new result and don’t mind spending that kind of money. We offer a low cost alternative to a body shop.

How long does the paint last in the bottle?
The paint has a shelf life of about sixty (60) days. If you find it is a little thick, add a few drops of the thinners to the paint, stir well with a toothpick and check consistency. You can add a few more drops of thinners if needed.

Please note: We regret we cannot replace any paint after sixty (60) days from date of purchase. For best results use the ChipFixx kit within the first sixty (60) days.

What will the repair look like?
ChipFixx puts paint into the chip, not around it. This is a blob-free repair. You will have the chip coloured to match your car and protected from rust, so from about 3 feet away you should not see the chips.

Can you do metallics?
Yes, most automotive colours these days contain pearls and metallics.

Will it match?
ChipFixx matches are usually good the first time. The more information you give us, the better chance of a good result. Touch up pens and bottles don’t always match well because there can be several versions of one colour depending on where the car was made, what year and what model. We custom mix for your particular car and if there is a problem we will work with you to provide a satisfactory result.

What if there is rust in the chip?
ChipFixx Rust Remover will remove light surface rust or you can buy a similar solution from auto parts suppliers and hardware stores. If you have heavy blistering sometimes the only solution is a body shop.

How long will the repair last?
The ChipFixx method and tools have been in use since 1995 and we have seen repairs over eight years old and still looking good. If you follow instructions and prepare the chips properly it should last.

Will it repair scratches?
Many paint chips will disappear, scratches are another matter. Darker colours repair better. Some scratches that do not go through the clear coat will not hold paint, but may be buffed with fine compound by a detailer. Deeper, wider ones that will hold paint may not disappear but will be diminished and will be protected against rust.

Will it work on plastic bumpers?
Yes. ChipFixx will repair small chips on plastic bumpers.

What about “tri-coat” colours?
These are obtained by applying a solid base colour such as white, followed by a pearl coat and topped off with a clear coat. ChipFixx has worked with them from day one and should have a sample on file of your colour. This gives us a guide to formulate your paint.

If there is a variation we will work with you to provide the best result, but it is more of a challenge than a straight colour.

Can anyone do this?
Yes! ChipFixx is user friendly, doesn’t require special skills and if you can follow instructions you should get a good result. We are here to help so don’t be afraid to call or email.

What if my car has been painted or does’t have a code?
Send or email us a photo sample of the colour and we will do our best to match it. Variation in colours when repairing small paint chips is less obvious than repainting a whole panel.

What if I make a mess?
Don’t worry if your first result isn’t perfect, it can easily be removed and you give it another shot. The procedure is not complicated and variations of it are in use by many people in the industry all over North America every day.
